Harzturm

The new highlight of the Harz in Torfhaus

The newly built Harz Tower opened at the beginning of November 2023. At an imposing 65 metres, its masterful architecture rises above the heights of Torfhaus, which at 812 metres is the highest village in the Harz Mountains. When you stand in front of it, you are sure to say "wow": Perfectly shaped, this tower made of wood and steel is an interpretation of a tree trunk. The lamellar structure of the tower sculpture makes it look like a giant wooden screw that turns towards the sky. The entrance building to the Harz tower is a modern alpine hut made from natural building materials.

In addition to admission tickets, you can also buy a nice selection of modern souvenirs here. The ascent can be made by lift or stairs. Once you reach the top, you have a fantastic view of the Harz National Park and the Brocken from the two viewing platforms. If you want to feel like a bird swaying in the air, you should enter the Skywalk with a view. The glass viewing point simulates floating in the air. And for action heroes, there is the "Rasantia" adventure slide with magical sound and light effects and fast-paced curves. It seems to embrace the tower and winds its way dynamically downwards for 110 metres.

IT WILL TAKE A LITTLE LONGER

The complete opening of the Harzturm will still take some time, but there is currently the opportunity to take an exclusive look behind the scenes on a guided tour by the team. The guided Harz Tower tour is available for groups on the hour and half hour. For €8 per person, visitors gain access to the construction site and can climb the 304 steps to the top of the Harz Tower with the team and enter the Skywalk (the lift and the "Rasantia" adventure slide are not yet available) . Visitors enter the construction site at their own risk and are therefore required to sign a disclaimer before the tour.
